This 160° Thermostat is for all LS1/LS2/LS6 2004-2007 Corvettes, 2004-2006 GTO , 2004-2007 Full Size GM Trucks/SUV's equipped with 4.8/5.3/6.0L engines along with 2006 Trailblazer SS and 2008-2009.5 Pontiac G8. These low-temp thermostats dramatically reduce operating temperatures, while increasing thermal efficiency and your engine's performance in the process. Racers know that a cooler running engine is a better performing engine. This new thermostat replaces the factory unit, allowing coolant to circulate at lower engine temperatures, keeping the engine cooler.

NOTE: Not legal for use on pollution controlled vehicles.
NOTE: This thermostat fits early model 2009.5 Pontiac G8's with the water pump housing on the passenger side (when looking at the front of the engine).

In 2004, GM switched to a different water pump and thermostat housing design. The older thermostat can easily be identified by the attached housing. Most service pumps for 1997-2004 applications are actually the newer 2004-2008 pumps, so it is important to keep in mind when ordering a new thermostat that you should not order a thermostat by model year alone.
In 2007, GM switched to a different water pump and thermostat on the new chassis trucks for that model year. The cars did not switch to the newer thermostat and water pump for several years. Some mid-model year and other cross over exists on the 2007-2009 model year vehicles so it is important to make sure you have the correct thermostat for your vehicle or it will not function properly. Unlike the thermostat change that occurred in 2004, these two different thermostats look very similar and can be installed in the wrong application.
